Road Trip To Black Sheep Gathering

My fabulous girlfriends and I decided to embark on an eight day trip to Oregon's Black Sheep Gathering. We decided that we would bring our spinning wheels too so we could spin. We were excited! The lovely scenery and beautiful smell of clean air filled my lungs. It was a great time to explore, relax, and of course shop for fiber related items. Soft Horizons was one of the shops that we visited. So cute and filled with yarn goodness. I had to restrain myself because there was so much yummy stuff. After a few days we headed into Eugene to set up camp. We couldn't wait to head out the next day to Black Sheep. First thing we did was visit the Wool Auction and filled the cab of our truck with fleeces. Afterwards we visited the Sheep to Shawl contest which was pretty amazing! Such a collaboration among spinners and weavers. It was both exhilarating and inspiring to watch. Here are some furry friends that were also in attendance: We saved the best for last and did a bit of shopping. I picked up a new Turkish spindle called a Kachulu from Ed Jenkins. It's so cute. I keep it in a little Altoids tin which fits it perfectly and I can carry it around in my purse.

Spring Knitting

I finally decided to put my mighty knitting sticks together and knit a cardigan I could wear. Sure I've made a few before for special people in my life but making one for myself always was on the back burner AFTER I lost some weight. Well, I am hear to say that time still has not come and I just decided to go for it. I am glad I did. The Sea Grass by Cecily Glowik MacDonald was a perfect knit for my body type. The delicate lace detail around the hips were perfect. I have always loved top down cardigans so this was my cup of tea. The Berrocco Vintage DK was just a nice soft feeling. I am back on the cardigan rage again and working on my next one. Looks like I got the push I needed.

Back to Blogging

I started a blog over 5 years ago about my knitting projects. I'm sad to say that blog has been retired. I'm really excited as I have thought long and hard about beginning a new one. I wanted to make sure that I was ready to commit to something else rather than feeling like it was another job. I've learned so much over the years and met so many amazing people and can't wait to share that as well.
What I hope to achieve with my blog is a journal of my successes and modifications with the fiber arts that I dabble in. The word modification is something that I like to use instead of the word failures. Knitting, spinning, and weaving  can be modified in so many ways which is how we get new patterns. How great is that! So, here's to my first post and many more.
